Traditional manual surveys can be difficult to set up, difficult to monitor and difficult to analyse. The HC8 System cuts through all these problems. It combines the accuracy of electronically synchronised data collection with the flexibility of manual surveys. The set-up software is PC-based and easy to use. The programme has four pre-defined survey options: classified passing counts, classified turning movement surveys and Origin and Destination surveys. The Interface rack charges all the loggers and ensures that the clocks are all synchronised. It is then used to transmit all the survey details to each logger. When the survey is complete, the rack is used to retrieve the data. Once the logger is programmed in the interface rack, the enumerator cannot operate the logger outside the defined survey time. It automatically switches itself on and off at the start and end of the survey - all the data is synchronised. It can even detect when data is not being entered, so poor enumeration can be avoided. While performing the survey, positive key feedback through sound and feel allows the enumerator to work without looking at the logger. Building on the systematical HC8 approach, the software integrates your HC8 hand-held loggers providing professional and error free reports. Producing turning movement plots in the traditional form with tables, summations and origin & destination studies with one platform. Whilst spreadsheets such as Microsoft® Excel™ can analyse turning movement counts, the HC8 presentation and analysis software eliminates the potential for wrong formulas and errors in output. It also reduces the training and system costs that come with unique spreadsheet applications. The powerful analysis provided by the HC8 software makes professional reporting easy. The software enables powerful analysis of; Passing counts, including flow rates by time, vehicle types or groups; Turning movement surveys and also origin and Destination surveys. In addition, the system can be programmed for any user-defined survey where timed counts and classification are required. Unlike other solutions, the HC8 has been designed by a traffic engineer for daily use. Each unit can store vehicles in over 4,000 intervals. Shock -proof and tamper-proof, it is designed with a high level tactile, audible feedback. Most intersections, vehicle types and turning movements are accommodated.
