Vehicle count and classification
Setting the industry standard for vehicle count and classification
Traffic counters provide information on the volume of traffic by hour of day and vehicle class, i.e., motorcycle, car, goods vehicles distinguished by number of axles etc. Vehicles are detected by passing over loops embedded in the road surface. It is possible from the data collected to establish the vehicle profiles and the various vehicle classes involved.
There is a constant demand for information on traffic flows from a variety of sources. These include national traffic authorities, local authorities and consultants undertaking traffic studies in connection with congestion reduction, local traffic management plans and development proposals, etc.
Golden River has been involved in traffic monitoring products for over 30 years (since 1974) when the MK2 Marksman traffic classifiers were developed. The company has continued to grow steadily, supplying traffic counters and classifiers to UK local authorities and overseas distributors. In 1981, the company introduced the world’s first microprocessor-based, loop-detector and traffic classifier. Golden River has continued to set the standard for traffic monitoring products ever since.
