A shining example:
Astucia & Lunaro installation named as one of Top 3 Safety Projects

Astucia SolarLite road studs may have already gone global – with streams of solar powered road studs guiding motorists from Holland to Oman, but now their place on the map is even more secure thanks to being recognised as one of the Top 3 Safety Projects in Poland.
Thanks to Lunaro, Astucia’s Polish partner, the team were alerted of the need for more efficient road safety measures and assisted in the planning and deployment of studs on road no 3 in the vicinity of Przybiernow in Western Pomerania.
The project was sparked by Poland’s ‘Weekend without victims’, a campaign designed to educate and raise awareness on crucial road safety matters across the country.
During the campaign, safety stickers were handed out for drivers to attach to their car’s rear windows, on national roads 3 and 10, signs displaying statistics of road accidents were seen by passing traffic and at a dedicated event in Kolobrzeg, motorists were able to experience what it felt like to be trapped in a car after rolling and were taught vital safety checks that could save their lives.
Following the event, Astucia and Lunaro installed 120 SolarLite road studs with plans to install a further 140 on road 3 at the crossroads of the vicinity in Przybiernow. Installations can also be seen on road 15 in the vicinity of Września, Siedlce city ring, Gostynin city ring and through road 251 in Murczyn – an area noted for its hazardous bends.
The intention was to ensure the road was well delineated after dark and in poor conditions plus to reduce the amount of fatalities on Polish roads.
Astucia SolarLite road studs increase visibility from 90 metres to 900 metres when compared with conventional retro-reflective studs. This means when driving at a speed of 100 km/h, the driver is given more time to react to approaching hazards – up to 30 seconds instead of 3.2 seconds. Since they don’t require any power source, but simply rely on natural daylight to charge and activate, they’re entirely sustainable too.
The results speak for themselves with some reassuring statistics. In 2010, there were 55 less fatalities on the roads in the West Pomeranian area compared with the previous year.
